Did you know that each little bee has 170 odorant receptors, which means they have one serious sense of smell! They use this to communicate within the hive and to recognise different types of flowers when looking for food.

While many believe that honey is just a by-product of honey bees daily work, in reality bees need it themselves to survive. Honey bees must consume about 17-20 pounds of honey before they can biochemically produce one pound of beeswax. 

It takes 556 bees to make one pound of honey. Meanwhile annual honey consumption in the US alone is 450 million pounds. Do the math ~ that’s a lot of bees
