In Japan, hinoki cypress has been used for centuries to build temples, shrines and deep wooden soaking tubs. The wood is pale and fine-grained, and it holds a scent that's clean, lemony and softly woody: the smell of hot water, steam and stillness.

Hinoki Sanctuary starts there. Gin botanicals and a hint of sage open the scent, crisp as a cold morning. Then comes the hinoki itself, calm and citrusy-sweet, over aged cedar, dry and deep, like old floorboards warmed by years of sun.

It's our most meditative scent. Light it before a bath, during a quiet morning with coffee, or whenever you need twenty minutes where nothing is asked of you.
